My Mom's in the hospital.
Kidney infection. I'm torn between being worried and angry at her. She told me that she was having severe flank and back pain, fever, chills, etc. ALL NIGHT last night and didn't wake my stepfather up to take her to the hospital because "he had a rough day and needed some sleep".

ARGH. :banghead: :(

Why does she DO that?

1. Sorry, oktoberain. Hope your mom feels better soon. My mom was just
released after 3 weeks in the hospital.

If you're mom is anything like mine, she does it because she independent, AND because she is for comfortable taking care of others, rather than putting herself first.

2. It's frustrating, though.
I just wish she'd take better care of herself. Her health is fragile. :(

She and my stepfather were here last night for dinner, but she didn't eat more than a bite or two. Now I guess I know why. :(

5. My mom has gotten a lot better at paying more attention to herself,
but I know what you mean.

She's dealing with several health issues, and a few years ago, when she was first diagnosed with one of them, she insisted on tracking all her own meds. Well, she ended up in a very toxic state, and it scared the crap out of me. I was talking to her on the phone one night; she lives 300 miles from me. All of a sudden, she quit responding to me, and I am screaming "MOM MOM!! into the phone; no answer.

Tried to get hold of my siblings but no one was home. Decided to try mom one more time, before calling 911 where SHE lives, and got hold of her. Turns out, she was really out of it. My sis took her to the doc, he got things straightened out, and within 24 hours, she was herself again. After that episode, and a few stern talking to's from me and my siblings, she relented, and said she was okay with everyone just looking out for her so that didn't happen again.

3. I'm sure she'll be fine.
She's a giver,not a taker,by the sounds of it.

6. Sending my best wishes to your mom for a healthy recovery.
Why? Because moms put everyone else first and themselves last. Unfortunately.
