Fundies scare themselves thinking every little noise is the Rapture.
Rapture Ready is a Fundamentalist Christian website where they sit around talking about how holy and repressed they all are and about how Jesus is going to show up any minute to take them to heaven. They are all ultra-conservative.

Anyway, I find the insane ramblings of this website to be an endless source of amusement. On this thread they discuss how sudden noises cause them to think Jesus has return.

1. Those people are deeply disturbed
They have taken the entirety of life and turned it into fear of the boogeyman.

3. Unfortunately, the boogeyman is God in this case.
God is a great lover. He won't hurt us.

I like a good scary movie, but I can't stand when they make God the evil monster.

4. Not to turn this into R/T...
IMO God is only half of it. Since they believe in an active Satan, whose sole purpose is to trick people out of their true virtuous behavior, their worldview breaks down into a paranoid "Satan is behind every corner" thing, which only helps the idea of God the Punisher waiting to condemn for falling for Satan.

6. Yes, that is true, but in the end "it's all part of God's plan."
For research purposes I tried to read all of the Left Behind books but I had to stop around about the seventh book. What I could not stand was when God sent these terrible locust creatures that stung people. The people would try to kill themselves, but they could not.

12. I considered getting it on VHS just for comedic value.
In the end I could not justify $20 to watch Kirk Cameron.

11. Yes, everything that says they are wrong is Satan.
It is like a river whose path is so curved that it becomes a circle flowing around and around but going nowhere. The banks of the river that kep the water from getting out are their paranoid view of cloven feet under every curtain. It becomes a self-perpetuating circular argument .

14. Unfortunately I have personal experience seeing this with my sister
She's become one of the Borg.Sometimes she literally prays on every decision. She actually had to pray to decide whether to come to my wedding or not! She actually had an argument with her husband, which boiled down to her being afraid of going to hell for something he did and she wasn't at all involved in!

They worry so much about hell, they turn their lives into hell with the worrying.

2. What bothers me about their theory of the Rapture is that God
does terrible things to people at the end of the world and that's great because He is God.
It's a crime if someone torches someone else's house, but it's a-okay if God burns billions of people because they don't believe in a particular version of Christianity (not all Christians will be saved, us liberals won't be raptured).

That's bull. God loves everyone, they just want to twist the Bible around...

8. I don't know that they're twisting it that much.
The OT is a catalog of atrocities. Evil People do evil thinks. Good people do good things. Making good people do evil things requires religion.

"...because they don't believe in a particular version of Christianity..."

Yes, that's an old story. The theological basis for the first great chism in 1054 between the Orthodoxy in Constantinople and Catholicism in Rome was this. Does the Holy Spirit proceed from the Father and Son or just from the Father? Aparently no one in authority cared to ask, "Who gives a shit?"

I see you have the seal for the Episcopal Church. I was once a member which was difficult because I was a teenager. My mother was Catholic as was my step monster and they had coerced my sister into converting. My father used to be Episcopal but became an atheist. I liked the church and the people there and the life messages they imparted. Ultimately, I had to leave because I did not believe in any of that magic stuff-resurrection and whatnot.

Nothing spiritual about it. Besides, Diebold will count their votes even if they don't cast then.

because all those people are reading that Harry Potter book, and in the bible it talks about how that is one of the signs. (According to a relative, I kid you not).

30. This one is pathetic:
Dear BlessedHisname. Something that happend to me that i want to share. This was on the hearing from God thread!
the smiliar thing happend on tuesday Night. earlier before that I was watching the news and overcome with tears about had happened to the familes that were murdered, the triple murder that took place. I suddenly couldnt take it anymore, and I kept pleading with the Lord please please get us out of here. This world is outta control. you have the seen the evil in this world. Please please get us out of here!!

There's something wrong with saying God gave you life but then hating it so much. And I bet this same person criticizes Muslim terrorists for suicide bombs. Yet these people would suicide bomb us all, figuratively.
