Should I shave my boy parts? This is not about sex..
I have a doctors appointment Monday morning. I have a strange lump to the left of my penis that is uncomfortable to touch. Would it help the doctor if I did some "manscaping" to expose to aforementioned area? The hill might be easier to find without the trees, if you get my drift.

It would be difficult to contact my doctor before the appointment to ask her. I have shaved down there before, I don't mind doing it again. Is this worth doing? Do you think it would help her diagnose the problem?

1. ~sending good vibes~
I don't know about the shaving thing. I'm pretty sure it's not necessary, but I don't know if it would be appreciated.
Best of luck with the exam...

2. It might make it a bit easier
As long as you don't shave close enough to get razorburn and painful regrowth (I did that to a guy once- I am such a bitch) there's no real downside so you might as well.

5. That is my thought too..
I will just shave the left side. It can't really hurt anything if I do some clear cutting. /* looks for my roommates Mach 3 */

7. Thou shalt not share razors!
You could catch something.

And do both sides or you'll look like a circus freak. :)

9. I will use my razor.. I was making a joke.. I'm kinda scared right now. Making bad jokes helps.
I don't have insurance and I'm freaking out a little bit.

3. I'm not a guy but
I would do that. Makes sense that without the forest she would have a better view.

4. Maybe trimming moderately close would be just as good
....and help you avoid most of the discomfort of regrowth.

6. It doesn't bother me much.. I have "cleaned up downtown" before.
I do think that I will shave first.. I can't really see a downside to it.

8. Well, I hope whatever the problem is turns out to be harmless.
For the record, nothing skeeves me out more than the thought of a woman doctor examining my boy parts. I only want men down there, socially or professionally! But I'm just old fashioned that way.

13. Is it a skin thing or is it a kind of lump?
If it is like a surface or skin thing shaving might make it worse (especially if you use a blade!) If it is some kind of lump under the skin I think you'd be ok to shave...

Sending good vibes for you, I'm sure this is creepy as hell.

18. I'm sure you already did this but:

Try not to panic. It might not be anything terribly awful. Lest I offend you, it might even be something a shot of antibiotic will cure!

17. I wouldn't shave if it were me.

You could irritate the problem.

Good luck. Hopefully it will be something simple ... like a cyst.

20. You could opt for defoliants
that work just as well and don't involve blades in sensitive areas. I use them and the feel better than a razor. Just a suggestion.

Hope everything turns out well.

23. I would suggest trimming close, but not shaving.
Shaving could irritate the skin and cause some problems.

Good luck. I hope it's nothing.
