First day back at work from our mini-vacation at Myrtle Beach. Only 24 emails and NO voicemails!!!!
I saw the above beachtowels in one of the beach wear stores on the main drag (rt.17) and thought it was hilarious. Clearly I need to get out more.
We were in north Myrtle Beach-the complete and total lack of anything approaching authenticity anywhere near Myrtle Beach was not apparent to me until this trip. I guess back in our wild pre-marriage pre-baby party days we didn't care much but now I was repeatedly shocked at how superficial and plastic the entire tourist cash sucking operation there is. It struck me that they only reason that they don't just all take buses in is to perpetuate the myth of their individuality. How many times can you see the same tattoos/"look"/ Hollister t-shirt on 5 people within a 20 yard radius and NOT get that you really aren't that special??? ...that being said I swear I saw my complete twin (right down to footwear) one night-seriously it was spooky.
We had a BLAST!!! but even SPF 50 couldn't protect my shoft white underbelly from the sun-my stomach is actually still purple from the burn of two days of laying out on the beach...but still WE HAD A BLAST!!
Baby girl was returned to us on Saturday (we got home and had 90 minutes to get the food, cake, and her gift for her birthday party) a spoiled fitthrowing mess whose time schedule was completely off.
We had a BLAST!!!
I think I heard Van Morrison two more times than I heard BRUCE so in total about 148 times over 4 days.
They have billboards on I95 now :wow: oh and we didn't actually go by South of the Border so I couldn't get any of that stuff you all wanted.
No hurricanes sighted.
On Friday morning my wife and I both woke up with bad stomach pains. The sudden shift from an almost entirely organic diet to one of freeze dried seafood did not go over well. Even with a horrific 5 mile run on Friday I still managed to GAIN 7 pounds from Tuesday to Saturday. We eventually found a good actual real restaurant in North Myrtle Beach (Baron's) and had a great final meal Friday night. We should have gone by the farmer's market to find out a good place to eat.
We had a BLAST!!!
