Anyone else think both 28 days later endings stunk?
I saw this yesterday finally and watched the regular ending (optimistic one) and stuck around after the credits to see the original ending which was nixed (the pessimistic one).

Honestly I thought both of them sucked eggs. They both felt totally slapped on.

Overall the movie was good but the endings could have been better.

1. I liked the 2nd ending
more in line with the tone of the movie (I would have liked the Roger Ebert ending too, where the plane circles back and opens fire on them)

I had some problems with the third act, I don't buy the whole rape scenario. Or that he could have killed them all so easily. Or that they wouldn't have kept that door locked. Or that the enraged wouldn't have been dying in droves of exposure.

But, the good parts more than made up for it. Scariest movie I've seen in a while.

2. I tend to agree with your assesement....
And I like that ending you proposed. But why was it a "Roger Ebert" ending?

Yes, the rape scenario was far too stretched out and staged for it to be a plausible plot hinge. And in a movie about infected zombies, that's saying something.

Overall the movie was creepy and well acted but flawed.

3. Can anybody tell me what the alternate ending was?
I saw it before they released the pessimistic ending. You can PM me if you don't want to post spoilers.

4. I agree with that
both endings seemed out of place.

Good flick though overall. Not perfect but better than average in many ways. The church scene was worth the price of admission. "Hello?" :)

5. the movie blew
It wasn't scary at all.

Want to rent a good scary movie, go see 'The Ring'

best scary movie in the past 10 years.

6. The Ring was not much scarier, and that ending sucked as well....
I liked both movies o.k. but the endings to both were pretty bad. 28 Days Later was much scarier because it was plausible (some would say very possible). It was a flawed movie, but so was the Ring.

7. Actually, see Ringu. Much scarier.
The American version of Ringu sucked. It had a creepy vibe to it, but it was a jumbled mess and the moviemakers somehow felt obligated to wrap up every possible loose end. Ringu is much creepier and well put together.

And yeah, I saw 28 Days Later before the alternate ending too. Can someone tell it to me?
