1. I've heard that but in the past 3 years.....
I got married and had a daughter and if anything it's made me take a more radical left turn.

4. I became more of a lefty
I do know some people who have become more conservative as they get older and have kids, but these are the same people who have a hard time critically analyzing their world. They also find comfort in joining more fundamentalist churches that basically tell them what to think.

It comes down to their need to make life less complicated. The fundies and the GOP do that for them. These organizations give them a black/white world and a set of rules to follow in such a world.

When you begin to talk to these people about religion or politics, you can see them shut down. They don't want to be bothered with details of a complex world.

5. My dad
He use to be an Al Gore moderate Dem and he turned Repuke later in life. The man is the horrible stereotype of the baby boomer sell-out. BTW, I say that knowing that the stereotype is not usually true. In this case, however, it was.

6. When you posted a similar question
in GD Saturday, www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=118761&mesg_id=118761, several of us asked about your use of the phrase "most married people with children vote repuke". You didn't answer those questions, so I'll ask again. Where did you get the idea that most married people with children vote repuke?

7. No. I know of noone who
became a conservative after getting married and having kids. If anything, most of the parents I know went back to their roots and core values. Trying to explain values to your kids make you re-think your own actions. My parents are conservative, but I am very liberal and have stayed that way.

12. I was shocked...
when a high-school friend of mine got married and had a child. He used to be my #1 partner in crime...we did all kinds of really nutty stuff. He was a big-time stoner, et cetera. Once Baby got there, BAM! 180 degree turnaround. No more fun of any kind. He even got (GASP!!!!) RELIGION, of a "normal" variety.

I'm still bummed out by it...
