Dog people... why won't ours go to the bathroom in OUR yard??
Yesterday I let them out at 7 am. We were out til about 11, when I took them for a walk. Apparently they had been waiting to go to the bathroom in the neighbors' yard (they especially love to pick yards where someone is out in the front). Back to our house, out in the yard, until 7 pm, when I took them on another walk, and they did it AGAIN.

So to sum up, 11.5 hours in our yard and 0 poop, and .5 hours walking and lots of poop.

Our yard is big and clean and they have never been yelled at for going in the yard. In fact, on the rare occasions I catch them doing it, I praise them for it, hoping it will sink in.

2. My dog used to do that; go next door in the neighbor's yard, and
not ours. I always stay outside with her, and if she started heading over there, I'd use my "mommy voice" with her, and she learned pretty quickly that going in the neighbor's yard was not good. Now she just goes in our yard.

3. Here's what I did with my dog. I got his poop from the neighbor's
yard (in a bag) and would put it in a secluded corner in OUR yard. Then as soon as we went out, I'd walk him over to where his poops had been placed by me. He eventually figured out that was his place (in that area) and it became his preferred place.

6. I will try that.
2 of the 3 were housetrained when they came to live here, so maybe this is training from before!

5. Ha!
It's not that they NEVER do, it's just that clearly they'd prefer to wait - even all day.

11. I suspect they try to mark the widest possible territory as their own...
...and warn your neighbors not just from your house, but from encroaching on the yard at all.
