The BlueIris Semi-Nightly Poem Thread, 9/5/07
"Plan"

My cousin Max is being married
on a quiz show.
He is getting a Westinghouse refridgerator
a Singer sewing machine
a set of furniture from Sears and Roebuck
an ant farm
a General Electric toaster
and a girl.

It is not enough.
He expects babies and happiness
good times and money
and a government that wars on war.

My cousin Max expects too much.

7. Yeah, this poem (written in the '50s, I believe) has acquired new currency in this day and age.
I so hate the reality t.v. phenom.
