:yoiks: The interim CFO and I joked earlier about how incredibly dry these guys are. I've known one of them since 1989 when he worked in the same financial aid office I did, and he's always been like this. And they don't like change---who the FUCK asks for "ledger cards" any more???? Dude, they're STUDENT ACCOUNT STATEMENTS, and they're printed on a printer that is hooked to something called a computer. :P  I haven't heard the term "ledger card" since 1982. :P

1. That's not a computer
A computer is a big fucking thing in a room with special A/C and a raised floor that you feed punched cards into. Everyone knows that. :P

2. I remember those.

IBM punch cards and everything. I once saw a grad student ruin his computer programming project by tripping over his own feet and spilling the box of punch cards on the floor. Several of us helped him pick them up, but he was crying....he knew he'd have to start all over again in putting them in order.

Mmmmm....cathode ray tubes...:P

4. NWC, you do know why people become auditors. They're too boring to be morticians.
:hi:

6. They may just be f***ing with you
Go listen and see if they are snickering back in the room they are set up in... hehehe we asked for ledger cards hehehhe

Auditors really aren't that bad. I was one once-we get all set up and the partner looks at me and says "Well you know what to do right?" Stone cold silence from me "You DO have an accounting degree right?" I don't know what to say finally he and all the managers start laughing "Go get that folder and do what was done last year"

See how Enron happens?

9. Actually, the asst. director here told me they always ask for
"ledger cards". Seems they've been using that termn since the Earth was cooling. I fucked with him this morning, though---I asked him, "Can you tell me exactly what you're looking for? We haven't used ledger cards for almost three decades." I thought it was funny as hell, and so did the CFO...but the auditor I know didn't laugh. :P He can just get over himself.

7. It's fun to charter an accountant
And sail the wide accountancy
To find, explore the funds offshore
And skirt the shoals of bankruptcy!

It can be manly in insurance.
We'll up your premium semi-annually.
It's all tax deductible.
We're fairly incorruptible,
We're sailing on the wide accountancy!
