My inlaws had a Gerbil living in their garden for years
it was there with a couple of friends when they moved in. For years they were never sure precisely what it was, catching a glimpse of the shy creature every once in awhile.

This last fall they were sitting outside one day the gerbil comes crawling out to them as if it wanted to say hello and immediately dropped dead (apparently ill).

I still find it hard to believe a Gerbil could survive outside that long in Tulsa, OK

1. InTulsa?
Drought and wildfires followed by flooding. I'm surprised too.

I have family in Tulsa too.

:hi:

My relatives are near Broken Arrow (I've only been there twice in 15 years.)

5. They're native to deserts.
They're found in desert habitats as disparate as the Sahara and the Mongolian Steppes. Quite the tough little rodents, really.

6. must be! They also had two rather tough dogs living in the same backyard for years
the gerbil outlived both of them.
