Poll question: What mode of transportation inspires the best songs?
Curious if the results of this poll will equal my opinion. Feel free to mention songs that justify the way you voted.

1. Prolly walkin' down the street.
Has anyone tallied the number of times that line has appeared in song?

9. But...
In the past it was a great inspiration to use transportation. Late night, 2 am, the phone rings, ex girlfriend says she's "drunk, horny and lonely" and I used the fastest means of transportation to get there and help her with her crisis.

7. The space folding of the Spacing Guild.
I don't a single musical artist who hasn't done a song on that.

8. While "Oh, the humanity!" is technically a cry of terror and not a song per se, I still vote for
hydrogen filled balloons.

13. If it weren't for "Route 66" (which I've traveled about 66% of), I'd say trains.
But I've never heard a bad version of that song and I absolutely love it.

15. Trains are cool, but cars are personal, private, and the perfect embodiment
of individuality and freedom that most songs are written about. Fast Cars, Route 66, Hot Rod Lincoln, Litte Red Corvette... Cars can symbolize everything from rebellion to sexuality to escape to love (Tracy Chapman's "Fast Cars" uses all four themes--some of the greatest lyrics ever written).

Trains can't do that. Trains are romantic and echo our nation's history so beautifully, but in the end, they are impersonal. They are a means to get us somewhere else. Cars can do that, but they ae also an extension of ourselves. They are our very hearts and souls--like music itself.
