Have been offered a job as a curator! Am floored!
Edited on Sat Sep-15-07 01:21 AM by Whoa_Nelly
It's for this museum and cultural center soon to open in Oklahoma City

http://www.aiccm.com/

Am calling about it tomorrow. This job has been offered directly to me through someone I met earlier this summer.

If anything, will be interesting to hear about it. Am not sure I could move that far away form my grandbabies.

2. Thanks! It is going to be one very wonderful place.
I was jazzed about it when I met the director this summer.

And, just got word passed on from her through a friend that I need to call her. Says she wants me for the job.

I have her cell and office numbers.

Am stunned I could make that good of an impression..especially when I wasn't even trying!

5. It's usually when you're not trying that you make the best impression.

I'm not privy to your status and slightly buzzed, but that sounds like the offer of a lifetime. Are you competing?

You must come to OKC!!! There's actually stuff to do and see here now! And I will even offer to be your personal tour guide!!
I can't believe you'd traveled all across Europe, but you've never been to Oklahoma City.

26. UPDATE: Am not the one for the position
Am not disappointed that I don't fill all the qualifications for the position (it was for a director, not a curator...my OKC friend who told me to call our friend in common got that part wrong).

But, it was wonderful to be remembered and thought so highly of to be considered as a candidate.

Thanks to all your support here.

Meanwhile, am finishing up all the "No Child Left Behind" CA requirements to get a teaching position that should start out for me, an experienced teacher, at about $42-46,000/year/ Have already gotten my CA teaching credentials for Multiple Subject Pre-K-Adult, and Specialist I: K-12, MMH (Mildly Menatly Handicapped, ED (Emotionally Disabled), and Adult.

Am taking the RICA (Reading Instruction Competence Assessment) to show I do know how to teach Reading, and then am taking the CTEL (California Teacher of English Learner) to prove I really do know how to teach Crosscultural, Language, and Academic Development (also known as CLAD).

Ah...the hoops of getting a teaching job! Yowzer!
