Poll question: * * * Top Chef * * * Handicap thread & Poll
This is not to take away from the "spoiler" thread on Top Chef, but I wanted to ask the more narrow question of who you think is going to win, now that we are down to the last 5. Just to make it unscientific, I'll throw in my 2 cents that it's between Hung and Sara M.

Please vote and explain why you think your chef is going to win!

1. Hung v. Casey in the finals.
Dale might replace Casey, but they always put the 'villain' in the final.

Sara and Brian are redshirts.

2. I agree with this

Hung does have some talent, and they need a villian. But his recipes are wildly volatile - either perfect or horrible. Casey, I don't think has lost a quick fire yet, and hasn't been to the 'bad' judges table too often. Now has two elimination wins in a row, so I think she's moving to the head of the pack.

Sara and Brian are the weakest of the remaining five - seems like Sara is always at the 'bad' judges table, and Brian has no breadth whatsoever.

Dale's the dark horse for final two.

8. Wasn't Casey the one who badly
handled the task of chopping an onion?

10. Yes! It was quite bizarre
Edited on Sun Sep-16-07 09:18 AM by HamdenRice
It was a quick fire team challenge. They were divided into two teams to race to complete "mise en plase" (sp?), ie, preparation of ingredients. Each team member did one thing like shuck oysters, break down a chicken, chop onions, whip egg white.

Casey sooo blew it, I was astounded. She's supposed to be a chef and she chops onions that slowly?

On his blog, Collichio gave the excuse that her knife was dull, but it was pretty obvious that it was entirely her technique. She doesn't have "knife skills."

5. I also think Hung has a good chance of winning
Ever since season 1, there is clearly a bias toward a certain kind of cuisine -- the heirs of "nouvelle cousine" -- which emphasizes a certain kind of presentation almost as much as flavor.

Hung is clearly the chef most rooted in that tradition.

6. Anyone but Hung.
I can't stand him.

I'm really hoping that either Casey or Dale wins.

7. I don't mind him
I don't think he's as villanous as the previous season's "villains" were. Tiffany (season 1) really was downright mean and disrespectful to other chefs. Marcel (season 2) was irritating beyond tolerance to the other chefs.

Hung is arrogant and over-confident, but he seems to actually get along with the other chefs. I haven't seen one screaming match in which he was involved, compared to other "villains".

Running around with sharp knives, well that's another story.
