1. Just curious....why would you want to?

I've done the opposite, but I don't think I'd want to cause a cat who had lived indoors to have to adjust to being outdoors.

3. No one to care for them and very hard to place
Because they've stopped using the litter box.

6. Is it old or ill?
Try a garage, but I don't think shoving an indoor cat out the door is a great idea. If the cat is in severe decline, euthanasia might be a better course.

7. Other cats in the territory will be ruthless, especially once they see
he doesn't know how to defend himself.

8. I have the same problem.
My cats stopped using the litter box, they are declawed, and I live in an apt. Don't know what to do but wait until they die.

13. We had a cat that did that and it turned out it was diabetes
Happened when I was a kid - cat was good about the litter box till it was about seven years old.

Mom cleaned up after it for five or six years. In its death throes the vet said, "Oh your kitty had diabetes."

Wish we had known so we coul dhave given it meds and made it easier on Mom.

2. Easy. Just kick 'em out the door.
"It was fun, Mr Fluffy, but you gotta fend for yourself from now on."

Seriously though....why are you wanting to do this? Maybe you could find another home for the cat.

4. I would avoid that. The cat is used to living in doors and probably
does not have the experience to survive outdoors.

9. First, you have to carpet it so it doesn't get cold. Second, it needs a layer of fat,
Edited on Mon Sep-17-07 04:24 PM by Rabrrrrrr
which can usually be done by larding. Third, it needs spiked (so they are non-stick) paws - finishing brads usually do the trick, but for the bigger cats, you might want to use up to 5-penny nails. Fourth, you absolutely have to attach a helmet. Fifth - and this is just IMHO - the cat should be armed with something; I suggest nothing less than a .38, but I know of many who issue .22, or even .22-250.

14. Get medical advice ... kidney disease likely
Vets can also help you with behavioral adjustments.
