3. oh, the frown wasn't for the fact that she looks like him.
Just still wish he hadn't eaten that shotgun.

:hi:, you!

5. I know, it's hard to believe
Courtney says she is a "square" apparently so maybe there is hope for her. :)

She looks so much like both of them it is eerie.

And you just know she is gonna write one whopper of a tell-all book about Courtney in a decade or two.

I have to say, though...that dress is a bit too low-cut for a 15-year old, in my humble opinion.

7. I can see why
that is definitely an 'over the age of consent' dress. But when Courtney is your mama I guess it's par for the course. I am a fan of her music, but I can't imagine being parented by her. I think Kurt's mama had custody a fair amount of the time. Now that Courtney is finally clean maybe she will get to see her grandkids grow up, at least.

9. Frances is NOT promiscuous at all.
It's just a high fashion dress. Courtney wants to make sure Frances has great clothes. That's something Courtney could never have growing up because she was shipped off starting at an early age and spent most of her life in reform schools or doing whatever she had to do to survive, because HER parents abused then abandoned her. She just wants to make sure Frances has everything she needs. You don't mess with that kid. Courtney is very protective of her.

She only lost custody for 2 years out of the 15, so most of it is due to her being a good mother, not despite her, like most people think. I don't know why most people always assume the worst about Courtney. She's actually a good parent. I guess being a big fan of her and all, I just keep up a little more with what has happened through the years.

10. I am a fan of her too

but the fact is she *just* got clean again, according to what I have read. She has been in and out of rehab since Francis was born. I don't think a person can adequately parent a child when they are hooked on narcotics. I know nothing about her sexual behavior, and don't care to know, I just don't think that dress is appropriate for a 15 year old.

edit: Courtney is also an heiress (I should say trust fund baby, she's not royalty)...the time she spent in Japan and elsewhere in the world stripping was when she was living off of her inheritance. When L7 was starting out some of the member lived with her in one of her houses. She used to say she used to live with Lydia Lunch, and when someone asked Lydia about it she said that Courtney is a pathological liar and she added, "she is just a rich bitch. Always has been."

11. Yes, as annoying as Love can be at times, people should remember...
just what rotten parents she was "blessed" with. They were indeed abusive, selfish, and negligent.
I think that even her most awkward and shrill attempts to gain and maintain "celebrity" are, for the most part, attempts to seek the love, validation, and attention denied to her by her parents.

12. I would go further than that
She's probably a classic borderline. She's also a genius, no doubt. I was a huge fan of hers from day one, whereas I didn't warm up to Nirvanan until later. I think she is a gifted songwriter, a lot more than people give her credit for, and it really irks me when people try to imply that Kurt had anything to do with the songwriting. I think the fact that Francis Bean seems to have turned out to be a stable young woman says everything about her own internal makeup and very little about Courtney, as much as I adore Courtney for her music and her intellect.

13. She doesn't have his gift for melody, but she easily trumps him as a lyricist...
lyrically, "Live Through This" is far better than any Nirvana release.

15. Wow, that's something I never thought I'd read here.
I agree. Courtney (and her co-writers where applicable) can jerk you back into nightmare childhood so fast it makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up. Some of her lyrics still have the ability to give me the creeps: "I will pull the petals off of you...Rose Red I will make you tell the truth..." I got chills just typing that, plus her eery vocal delivery. I found her music much more engaging than Nirvana...well, like you say it was more the music with them but it was incredibly straight-forward...not many hidden layers of meaning like with her stuff. Ironically I think that she and Eddie Vedder would have made a good collaboration since they were both writing about the same stuff, childhood nightmares.

17. Yes, it is.
Her lyrics are better AND much more memorable as well. He was great too, but I do think LTT was a much better album than any of the Nirvana albums.

along with "Hey you gu-uys!" and "I got it, I got it, (crash) I don't got it." Ah heck, they're are a bazillion of them in that movie.

The kid turned out great. Courtney DID do a good job raising her. They were only separated for 2 years.

20. it's very likely that there are nannies that contributed
as well as Kurt's mother, whom Courtney used to brag about slapping across the face during one of her court appearances. I am not trying to trash her but I've been watching her career since almost the beginning, knowing this crap was going on and wondering what effect it was having on Francis Bean:

The rocker appeared at L.A.'s downtown Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center for a progress report, following the completion of a six-month rehab sentence for violating her probation on a number of charges stemming from 2003 and 2004 --including assault, possession of an illegal prescription and being under the influence of a controlled substance. Superior Court Judge Rand S. Rubin announced, "Overall, I think you're doing really well. We're all pretty pleased with your progress. At this point, the house arrest is complete, so you're done."

Love herself delivered a statement: "I would just like to thank the court for allowing me these ninety days . . . helped me deal with a very gnarly drug problem, which is behind me . . . I've just been playing guitar and taking care of my daughter. I want to to let the community know I'm doing great."

8. Yeah, she has no interest in performing music though, so that's off
the list of things she'll probably do. For that, I am :( At least that's what I have read.

I think she's a beautiful kid, looks like both mom and dad. Courtney has a lot to be proud of. Frances has turned out to be a good kid. Kurt would be so proud of his baby girl.

RIP Kurt
Godspeed, Courtney and Frances.
