Question about possible job offer involving travel
It's still in the talking with the head hunter stage but the job would involve traveling to NJ for several days to train and I'd have to cover the travel costs up front and be reimbursed after 6 months of employment. Is this a normal type arrangement?
It also means that if they don't like you after the six-month trial period they can drop you with reimbursing you. "oh, you just didn't survive the trial period. sorry."
7. You'd go broke paying tolls in NJ if you didn't get reimbursed!
but, it seems odd that they don't reimburse you after a certain amount of time - like, by the time the next pay cycle is over, or within 30 days at the most.
You are essentially floating money for them for six months. If you decide you HATE it, or another, better opportunity comes along, you're out the money.
If the company wants you to travel, at a minimum they should reimburse you within 30-45 days. Many companies will prepay your hotel and airfare, leaving you to cover meals and reimburse you those in the tradition expense form.
