Just got told that I have one month of work here and I'll be getting 6 weeks severance. I've been with the company for a little over 10 years and they are trying to be gratious about it. Right now we only have one major contract and we lost the recompete on it. The winner, IBM, low balled the contract and can't afford to take on any of our people as subs. This year has been tough since all the non-DoD/DHS agencies have been working on continueing resolution funding instead of getting a real budget. Even if Congress finishes and Bush signs the budget bills it'll be too late for us to get bids out on new work. I've been working a guy at HUD for over a year. He has work that needs to be done but can't until he gets a budget.
At this point I'm clinically disease free. I go for my final followup with the surgeon on Wednesday. After that all I'm really supposed to do is go for CT scans every 6 months. There are a few renal cell clinical trials of vaccines, but hopefully I won't need it since they are for people with metastasis. I'm looking into some anti-angiogenesis agents too. Luckily my insurance is through my wife's work so that won't be affected.
She'll check with them. I need a few days to get my resume updated and start getting it out to some people I know. Our HR person is going to do what she can to help us out. I hope I can find something on this side of the river.
