He used to have a small business in the construction industry spraying drywall texture on walls and ceilings. At the end of July, he talked to a nationwide homebuilder about getting a job with them as a superviser. We have a friend who works for them and he was the one that told my husband about the job. They promised him a job, but they said it would have to wait until the end of their fiscal year (October 1). In fact, they GUARANTEED him a job working as a builder. At about the same time, the main contractor that used my husband started trying to screw him on prices. So we dithered around and decided to sell the spray equipment and live off the money til the new job started. I have been pinching pennies so hard it's a miracle Abe doesn't squeal. Anyway, my husband just got off the phone with the guy who handles the hiring at the new job. My DH said he sounded very vague and said, "Well, let us get this year end out of the way and we'll get back to you." I just checked their website and the job, which had been listed as being open for the past eight weeks is now gone.
I swear, I think I am having a panic attack. My heart is going 100 mph, my palms are sweating and my head has just started pounding. What the fuck are we going to do?? He works in construction and always has. It is the only thing he knows.
