I am highly upset with Midas (
http://www.midas.com/) auto service. I took my vehicle in there because I had a small exhaust leak. They looked at the vehicle and told me the brake lights weren't working and I had a cracked exhaust manifold and a missing bolt on the manifold. FORTUNATLY, they didn't have the parts available to do the job that day so I was able to pick up the vehicle without paying for anything on the promise I would return for the repair. The estimate was over 500 dollars "unless we have to tap out that broken bolt". It troubled me that there wasn't anything wrong with the brake lights. I got to thinking there might be other repairs not needed.
I get home, check the depth of the bolt hole and determine there is nothing in there. The factory forgot to put it in. I went to the Chevy dealer today and bought a replacement bolt. It WAS going to cost 1.15 but they gave it to me because of the factory screw up (even though it is out of warranty). I installed the bolt, torqued the others down to spec and fired it up. The exhaust manifold crack is fixed!
"Tony" is awaiting my call to schedule an appointment to install the unneeded exhuast manifold and to fix my working brake lights. He had to order the parts and had called to tell me they came in on Tuesday. Should I call him and make the appointment then not show? Should I call him and tell him he is a thief? Should I go down there and tell him he is a thief to his face? Should I just leave him hanging and wait to see if he has the balls to call me back?
