5. SPOILER HERE!

Betty's sister has a son of about 10. She and the son's formerly irresponsible father were recently engaged. Before going to see the son in some performance, the father went into a convenience store and got shot (I believe trying to help the shopkeeper).

So in this episode, we see him with bandages in the mother's room, where she hasn't let him leave for weeks because she's worried about him. She shows him the wedding dress and he reads his vows to her.

Then at the end, we find out she's imagined all that and she's been in the room by herself for weeks, grieving over his death.

P.S. - As if that weren't enough, the mother recently lost her job and their father got deported, the son was finally getting to know his dad, etc. And despite all this, the show's actually pretty funny.

6. Wow. This makes me sad, just reading your synopsis. Thanks. By the way, what is the basic
premise/scenario of the show? Who is Betty? Some kind of student or something?

7. She's the daughter of a Mexican immigrant, recent college grad, living in Queens...
lives with her sister, nephew and dad (until dad got deported). She got a job at a high-fashion magazine because the magazine owner wanted his son (the editor) to stop dating his assistants. So she's the "ugly duckling" who is made fun of and put down by all the shallow people working there, but of course is very competent and caring and quickly wins over her boss.

I didn't watch it last season (it's on the same time as Earl/60Rock/Scrubs/Office and NOTHING will make me miss those) but I watched all the episodes online a few weeks ago. It's based on a Colombian soap opera and definitely has some drama, but the writing is good and although it can be cheesy, the laughs and characters make it a good show.

I watched several episodes before I realized that two of the characters are basically Jack and Karen from Will & Grace... their banter is priceless.

8. And Alex is going to get a BIG surprise when he looks in a mirror.
That's the plot twist that really shocked me. Alexis losing her memory.

11. I always wonder why they don't give her a makeover at the magazine
but then I guess the premise of the show would be gone ;-)

13. Given that she's more a fashion victim than "ugly" as it is anyway
If she did some eyebrow work and got clear braces there wouldn't be much to rip on.

That said, my wife and I make a point to catch it every week as long as we don't have any prior committments.

15. You do know you can watch the whole episode online?
They already have up last night's episode.

And I agree - she's a fashion victim, not ugly.

They should not have killed off Santos. He was an interesting character, with depth, and the relationships between him and Hilda, and him and his son, could have made for some great episodes. I also don't believe Justin would have been so "normal" acting only 3 weeks after the death of his father. I'm disappointed they brought back Henry, who was not a very interesting character, and I would not think that Betty would get back with him, especially since he never told her about his other girlfriend until she showed up. Betty is too smart to go back to someone like him. I'm worried that the show has "jumped the shark" with these 2 decisions.

20. Yeah...
I thought it was weird that Justin was so OK about it. And I was shocked they killed him, but it IS supposed to be a soap opera.

23. I also believe that Santos should not have been killed off
and I thought the plot line with Hilda and he in the bedroom was incredibly manipulative.

That being said, I liked the rest of the episode. Amanda and Mark are the funniest characters IMO.
