So is Gigli the Ishtar of this generation?
It's starting to look like it. A movie famous, notorious in fact, for being bad.

1. Oh, hell
Has it already been a generation since "Ishtar"?

5. When Ishtar came out...
... it was a big deal that Dustin Hoffman and Warren Beatty were in it. Charles Grodin was even kinda a star.

So, yes, I'd say the term "generation gap" applies.

2. Gobble gobble gobble gobble!
:puke: sputter cough gag retch :puke:

I think I'll get it from Netflix just to laugh at the horribleness of it. That is, if Netflix even bothers.

I understand it was 7th with a gross of just over $3 million in it's opening week. Cost almost $60 million to make!

Boy, J-Lo sure is an expensive date!

7. Signs point to yes!
In "favor" of Ishtar being the bigger bomb: it was made for $40 million at a time when the average studio film cost under $10 million, which made it way, way more expensive than the norm - more so than Gigli, It was also notorious for cost overruns and the difficulty of its overseas location shooting.

In "favor" of Gigli: If its rumored $60 million budget is for real, not nearly as much of it ended up on the screen as Ishtar's, as Gigli paid Ben-Lo stratospheric salaries. And its opening weekend grossed only about 6% of its budget; Ishtar at least topped 10%.
