The BlueIris Semi-Nightly Poem Thread, 10/2/07
"The Congress of Blue Jays in an American Yellow Leaf"

It is the caesaura between
your limbs clothed
and your limbs bare.

One long sound:

Almost a movement,
the echoed flight of pollen.

Listen,
the spins of a dervish.
Unbearable as breath.

These blue bodies,
the size of your hand.

These tiny lungs
pinned under the feathered chest,
an almond, a slice of mandarin.

Almost as sweet.

It is the first time
my mouth moved
around the skin
of your clitoris.

It is the first cut you rendered me,
the sound of your spice
budded tongue,
and the dark ribbon there.
