7. I used to get them a lot
I also remember buying cigarettes for my mom when I was about 8 - she'd send me into the store to buy a pack of Old Gold Filters for her. My dad smoked Viceroys. The people at the store never blinked an eye.

When I started smoking, cigarettes were 35 cents a pack. :wow:

for .05$ when I got home my dad said thanks and I cried because I wanted the candy ones. They even had the red candy tip to make them look like they were lit. Just plain wrong!

They also made me go to the vending machine.

I'm surprised I never had the desire to smoke myself as a kid.

20. I remember my dad getting a carton of Luckys for, I think, $2.11
That was about 1964.

I remember getting packs for 35 cents when I was about 15. First carton I ever bought, in 1974, was $4. Minimum wage was $2.50. Do the math.

23. My dad smoked Salem
it's funny, he stopped smoking when I was only like 9 or 10 but I still remember exactly what those packs looked like. Funnier (peculiar not haha)still, he died of lung cancer and yet seeing a pack of Salems makes me feel nostalgic.

26. I'd forgotten about that - pretty bad tasting IIRC
However, I feel like there was another version also, with more of a Cowboy & Indian motif; maybe what mugu is referring to.

Pretty funny to think back on those kid versions of grown-up vices...

That seems like a lifetime ago. Now that I think about it, that has to be 45 years ago, so I guess it was a lifetime ago.
