Clowns In My Coffee, Hold Me Closer Tony Danza, And Other Misheard Lyrics
I still laugh whenever I hear the song "Finally" by Cee Cee Penniston.

WHAT I HEAR:

Finally! It's happened to me.
Right in front of my face.
MONKEY LIPS can't describe it.

ACTUAL LYRICS:

Finally! It's happened to me.
Right in front of my face.
MY TWO LIPS can't describe it.

Just brush my cheek before you leave me

An ex thought it was:

Just brush my teeth before you leave me

Also....

Dire Straits Lyric:

Money for nothin' and chicks for free

My hubby STILL argues that it is:

5. I once re-wrote
The entire "Takin' Care of Business" song in high school to make it match the misheard lyric, "Bakin' Carrot Biscuits." I was going to sell it to Parkay and make a million dollars. :) Then I lost my version. Oh, well... The ants are my friends; they're blowin' in the wind.

Bakin' Carrot Biscuits - Everyday!
Bakin' Carrot Biscuits - With Parkay!

13. What's the one about douche? and what's it really saying?
Sorry, don't know the title or artist, but a big rock hit of the 80s sounded like the punch line was about douche, and everyone I asked what it was really saying didn't know. Hear it now and again on an oldie station and it always sounds like douche. Ring any bells?

16. Blinded By The Light
Manfred Mann's version of a Springsteen tune.

It was "deuce" not douche, but it sure sounded like the latter.

18. You mean "Wrapped up like a douche, another rubber in the night..."?
Manfred Mann's Earth Band - the correct lyrics ( a cover of a Bruce Springsteen song) are approximately,

"Blinded by the light, wrapped up like a deuce, another runner in the night" or something like that. It is a little clearer on Bruce's version, BTW.

Manfred Mann also changed the original lyrics of Springsteen's "For You" when that tune was covered.

50. Well, Black Francis does murder the pronunciation
Edited on Tue Aug-05-03 03:34 PM by FlashHarry
I believe it's in reference to Buñuel's 'Un Chein Andalou.' ("Slicin' up eyeballs, oh ho ho ho!") But Black pronounces the word un as 'oon,' rather than 'uhn.' In any case, it's a great song about a fairly obscure topic.
