I'm starting to get very angry, indeed
because, for the first time, I won't get to see any of the National League Championship Series. It's exclusively on TBS, and I'm cable-deprived.

Just whose interests does Major League Baseball serve, anyway? Not the fans', apparently.

:grr:

You're much closer than I
to the offices of Major League Baseball.

Go kick 'em in the shins for me, k?

8. I could only get to NY if some roving Deity decided to grant me wings
Edited on Sun Oct-07-07 06:23 PM by oktoberain
and if THAT happened, New York would not be where I'd choose to go. :)
Besides, I might get Yankee germs on me. Eeeeyyyeeewwww!
That's worse than cooties!

14. Look at it this way:
While over Noo Jork, you could drop a flaming shit bomb on Faux "News" offices. :bounce:

Anyway, Jankee germs can be scared off by a quick trip to Cleveland. :D

16. That is awfully tempting.
And I happen to have a rather large dog here who produces a copious amount of potential ammunition. Toby! Time to serve your country!

2. I am SO with you

Sympathy hugs,

5. Yup
Their games are "subject to blackout regulations."

Glad I didn't waste that money, though. I don't have the bandwidth to watch mlb.tv's stream. They require a minimum 350 kB download rate and I get about 300. When I watch highlights, they're start-stop-start-stop. Mostly stop.

Life in the burboonies — can't get cable, can't get anything faster than the slowest DSL. :eyes:

3. I was just thinking earlier about that. How many people WON'T
get to see the playoffs because they were moved to TBS. Not everyone has cable.

So sorry, Oedi.

That sucks.

9. Yeah, well, baseball gets their $$$
So, they don't care. :grr:

What really galls me is every weekend you can turn on the teevee and watch any of about 56 football games, even if all you have are rabbit ears.

I accepted long ago that I'll get to watch maybe half a dozen Dodgers games per season because I can't shell out $150 per month for the biggest cable package. But this seems over the top, even for pro sports.

7. I would apologize, but you won't be missing any great insight from the announcers.
The analysis/game calling on TBS has been absolutely horrendous for the NLDS and ALDS. It's like the people they put in the booth have little to no idea what they're actually talking about. I've heard more compelling game calls from a dead otter.

10. "If you're going to win the game, you have to get baserunners on"
Really? I thought you just had to hit the ball into the endzone

12. Nah, you just need one guy to homer
while you shut out the other club.

Technically, if a guy hits a homer, he isn't a baserunner.

Oh — did they say "baserunners on"? That's redundant. :P

13. You mean those two yellow poles really form one big goal-post?
More importantly, how many downs do you get in baseball? Is it like Canadian rules or what? Talk to me like I'm an idiot here, because that's what TBS has been doing and I've sunk to their level.

19. Three downs per half-inning
Two half-innings make an outing.

Nine outings make an over.

The first side to win four overs is awarded the Grey Cup.

See? Baseball isn't all that complicated.

:P

11. There's a way around that
Turn on ESPN radio and simulcast it.

I almost never listen to the teevee audio on a broadcast game. Radio announcers are so much better.

Right now, I'm listening to Jon Miller call the Cleveland-Jankees game. That's a plus in a sea of minuses.

For some reason, TBS is broadcasting the whole of the NLCS.

18. wow, that really blows
I was under the impression that both the NL and AL championship series would be shown on Fox. Wonder what genius came up with that idea.

But in better news the Yankees are losing 3-0!!

It's teh suck, isn't it, the way the fan base is treated? I'm very disenchanted with pro sports of late.
