I have come to the conclusion about what kind of man I want to be with
a foodie.

I want to be w/ someone who can take me to different restaurants and introduce me to different foods from different cultures. He'll like to try new things but he'll also be willing to show me what things he already likes to eat.

Now... where do I find him....?

15. Oh, they start there ...
McD's could be considered a gateway restaurant.

Cheers

3. really?
My last serious guy (7 years ago) was a picky eater. You wouldn't have caught him in a sushi bar or Indian restaurant or anything like that. Strictly meat, potatoes, and buffalo wings.

Of course, being a foodie isn't my only criteria. "Single" would be tops of the list. I'd also like to be w/ someone who is looking for the love of their life, willing to commit to that, age appropriate and done with children, and of course, politically progressive.

But "foodie" is way up there too.

6. Your Former Boyfriend sounds like someone that a LOT of Women wouldn't...
..want to Dine with...

I believe it is true that Women are more open to trying different things than (most) Men.

25. Ditto...
It may be easier to find a group of girlfriends to go restaurant hopping with. But another suggestion is to go to some cooking classes for different nationalities and try to snag one of the men who attends.

26. I was thinking a cooking class
All my girlfriends are married. They have the occasional "girls night out" but for the most part, when they dine out, they dine out w/ their spouses.

It sucks being single and 40-something.

5. Being married to one, I think you've come to a good decision!
The only problem is, we've BOTH gained weight since we've been together. We both love to cook and are good cooks. He cooks a little more often than I do. We experiment a LOT. We've been playing with tofu lately - cheap, great source of protein, incredibly versatile. Yum!

We also go out to eat at any ethnic restaurant we can find. A couple of weeks ago, we went to a Loatian place. Very nice!

Unfortunately, we're dieting at the moment, so no fun stuff for a little while. :(

23. Not vegetarian, just experimenting!
I found that I've eaten some really poorly-cooked tofu in my life, because I always hated the texture. If you do it right, it's actually quite smooth, (not rubbery), and it absorbs flavors beautifully IF you drain it long enough! Not draining it was one of the biggest mistakes I made in the past trying to cook it.

Alton Brown has a great Good Eats show about tofu - that's where we got the inspiration to start experimenting. I recommend trying things OTHER than an Asian-inspired dish - you'd be amazed what you can include tofu in!

Most chefs I know do not want to cook on their day off.

Although one gal I know gained 10 pounds when her husband (the chef) was out of work for 2 months.

35. I think a reference to Monty Python's "The meaning of life" and he says 'better'
"Better?"

"Better get a bucket." and he commences projectile vomiting.

Kinda gross though. Not really the funniest part of the movie. Not even close.

But memorable nonetheless.

Hey, if it doesn't work at least you'll enjoy some nice dinners out.

Usually, it is the male that needs to start what is colloquially termed "the pursuit".

30. Hmmm...there's always the old stand-by, "Cooking Class At The Local Junior College"
It might be an urban legend like giant alligators living in the sewers of New York, but men have been told for years that one way to meet a nice woman is to attend one of those weekend cooking classes that every junior college offers. It tells you two things (perhaps) about the guys who show up: they like food, and they're there to hopefully meet someone. It's like a singles bar without the alcohol.

Another idea would be to regularly visit your local Barnes & Noble, Borders, whatever...peruse the cookbook section...and if you see someone who catches your interest thumbing through a cookbook, strike up a conversation. People love to talk about their expertise. It's a non-intrusive way to show interest (and to see how interested YOU are in what the other person has to say).

I'm a good cook and as part of my business I have also designed the Web Sites for three local restaurants. I meet a lot of interesting people as a result.

When all else fails, there's the Golden Rule: Do what you enjoy doing, go where you enjoy going, and try to connect with anyone who interests you along the way.

Good luck!

:toast:

34. Good question
And I have to say that, when single, I never did one.

I did, however, date a chef at a four star restaurant in San Jose. She taught me everything I know - which helped me score Tavernerwife.
