OMG!!! Norm Coleman of all people says something almost intelligible...

Excerpt:

Last week, Sen. Norm Coleman, R-Minn., criticized the RIAA's pursuit of music swappers, saying he was "concerned about the potential for abuse in the current system."

Okay, he's a bit namby-pamby in his approach, but a Republican against the RIAA's tactics?!?!?!

What is the world coming to, "Democrats" like Biden and Hollings want the RIAA to sue everybody dead and here's NORM COLEMAN of all people against it? My god, what next? Cats sleeping with dogs, the rich and the poor uniting to make this country a better place? Bush resigning? The 2004 elections will be fair and unfettered by unethical people or procedures?!

Of course, the article is about the RIAA and DMCA - and guess who signed the DMCA into law in 1998? :puke:

1. Obviously
Norm has answered the most important question:

What's in it for Norm?

2. Here's the thing about Norm
he's not actually a conservative - in fact, he's not actually ANYTHING other than Norm Coleman, Inc.

Norm's one and only ideology is his own advancement, which is to be acheived at ANY price. Norm happened to lick his finger, stick it up in the air and decide that being a Republican was the best way to acheive his personal goals. I'm sure that if he thought that running as a member of the Socialist Workers Party would've gotten him a senate seat (and increased access to nubile young women), he would've been out on the streets with a red armband and a copy of Das Kapital.

Norm knows this is a winning issue with voters, ergo Norm goes for the easy win.

3. from across the state border
that is exactly the impression I get.

A good insight into how bad Norm Coleman is came when he actually provoked Garrison Kellor into an diatribe...or, as Garrison called it..."an angry diatribe..."
