Poll question: white rice sushi vs brown white sushi
I've noticed a trend in WHole Foods and a bunch of corner delis in NY to make sushi with brown rice. I eat it sometimes for lunch because my standards are lower for taste and texture then and it's better for me. But in the evenings and weekends it has to be the white rice kind. I know some people find the very concept horrifying.

How 'bout you?

4. Both in texture and taste, brown rice is wrong for sushi.
White rice is perfect because it acts purely as a foil for the fish, which is the whole reason to eat sushi in the first place. Stupid people and their low-carb diets are gonna ruin everything. :D

5. Brown rice sushi has more vitamins, but it's inauthentic
I've never seen brown rice sushi in Japan, not in thirty years of traveling there.

However, those thirty years have convinced me that anything can happen in Japan, so I wouldn't be surprised if some place does serve it.

7. depending on the type of roll, it's ok, but I prefer white rice
I am not a purist though - there are a lot of non-traditional rolls I love. A place near me makes an amazing peanut and avocado roll. mmm....

10. I'm sorry, but it's gotta be white rice. NEVER brown.
Bad rice ruins sushi. Good rice is the perfect compliment.
Sushi is bar-none, my favorite food (and I HATE cooked fish, go figure)...the thought of brown rice in sushi makes me weep...
