Thread for songs lyrics so bad, George W. could have written 'em...
I would have to nominate "Live and Let Die" by Paul McCartney & Wings for "Worst Sentence Structure"

"But if this everchanging world IN which we live IN..."

Where did the double preposition come from? I think he got it from the Department of Redundancy Department, in the "Employee Manual for all Employees".

1. Wildfire.....
It's not so much that it's a sappy song, but the line about the

"Oh they say she died one winter, when there came a killing frost"....

I cringe everytime I hear that line. Killing frosts kill crops, not girls and horses.

3. The worst Steve Miller couplet (and that's saying a lot):
"Billy Mack...is a detective down in Texas,
You know he knows just exactly what the facts is."

I want to smash the radio with a rhyming dictionary whenever I hear that - which thankfully is not often.

4. Speaking of Steve Miller...
I have this thing against the song, "Abracadabra"

Abracadabra, I wanna reach out and grab ya...

IMHO, this is one of the worst songs of the Rock and Roll Era - and a video that accompanies it that is equally as bad.

Peeee-yewwww!

13. Steve Miller deserves a lifetime achievement award for consistently stupid
...incoherent or annoying lyrics.

Jet Airliner: (most cliches in one verse + New England town:

Touchin' down in New England town
Feel the heat comin' down
I've got to keep on keepin' on
You know the big wheel keeps on spinnin' around

Abracadabra:

...reach out and grab ya.

Livin' in the USA:

Stand back, dietician
Stand back, television
Stand back, politician
Stand back, mortician :wtf:

Fly Like an Eagle (promising start):

Feed the babies
Who don't have enough to eat
Shoe the children
With no shoes on their feet
House the people
Livin' in the street
Oh, oh, there's a solution

I want to fly like an eagle... <THAT'S your solution?>

6. in which we're livin'?
I gave him the benefit of the doubt on that one.

Worst lyrics ever: "My Way" by Paul Anka, written to a French hit song.

8. Maybe...
But I swear, in my 25+ years of hearin' that song, I've never interpreted it that way.

"He may have sung it that-a-way, but I ain't never heered it that-a-way"!

;)

9. How can it be no one's mentioned Avril?
Avril Levegne's, "He's just a skater, boy, she said see you later, boy" Rhyming boy to boy is a total cop-out, Especially since neither is needed.

11. How about MacArthur Park?
Spring was never waiting for us, girl
It ran one step ahead
As we followed in the dance
Between the parted pages and were pressed,
In love's hot, fevered iron
Like a striped pair of pants

MacArthur's Park is melting in the dark
All the sweet, green icing flowing down...
Someone left the cake out in the rain
I don't think that I can take it
'cause it took so long to bake it
And I'll never have that recipe again
Oh, no!

.Click him to hear the song :eyes:

The Purple People Eater was the #1 song for 6 weeks in 1958and the #24 song of the 1955-1959 rock era. It sold over 3 million records and received a Gold Record within 3 weeks after it was released. And over 100 Million Copies Overall!!!

Words and music by Sheb Wooley.

Lyrics to Purple People Eater.

Well I saw the thing comin' out of the sky
It had the one long horn, one big eye.
I commenced to shakin' and I said "ooh-eee"
It looks like a purple people eater to me.

It was a one-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater.
(one-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater)
A one-eyed one-horned, flyin' puple people eater
Sure looks stange to me. (one eye?)

Well he came down to earth and lit in a tree
I said Mr. Purple People Eater don't eat me
I heard him say in a voice so gruff
I wouldn't eat you cuz you're so tough

It was a one-eyed, one-horned flyin' purple people eater
one-eyed, one-horned flyin' purple people eater
one-eyed, one-horned flyin' purple people eater
Sure looks strange to me. (one horn?)

I said Mr. Purple People Eater, what's your line
He said it's eatin' purple people and it sure is fine
But that's not the reason that I came to land
I wanna get a job in a rock and roll band

Well bless my soul, rock and roll, flying purple
people eater. Pidgeon-toed, undergrowed, flyin'
purple people eater (we wear short shorts)
Flyin' purple people eater
sure looks strange to me.

And then he swung from the tree and lit on the
ground. He started to rock, really rockin' around
It was a crazy little ditty with a swingin' tune
(sing aboop boop aboopa lopa lum bam boom)

Well, bless my soul, rock and roll
flyin' purple people eater.
Pigeon-toed, undergrowed, flyin' purple peopleeater.
Flyin' little people eater
Sure looks strange to me. (purple people?)

And then he went on his way, and then what do
you know. I saw him last night on a TV show.
He was blowing it out, a'really knockin' em dead
Playin' rock and roll music through the horn in
his head (clarinet solo) ( Tequila)

16. That stupid song from Titanic...
every freakin' line ended with the word "on". Shows a real lack of imagination by the lyricist.
