I'm so freaking mad at my t.v. repair guy.
Our 5 month old t.v. went on the fritz back on August 2nd. I called the manufacturer and they sent a repair request to a local company. When they got the order, I called them and was told it would be two weeks before they could come pick up the damn thing. He finally came and got it on August 27th and told me it would be about two weeks for repair. I called two weeks later and was told it's still not ready, hopefully next week. This is now the middle of October, and they still tell me it's not fixed, maybe next week. God, I am so pissed. All i want is for our family t.v, that i paid a small fourtune for, to be fixed and back in my home.

Any one have any suggestions about what to do??????

3. play cards with your family
head out to the library.

take long walks in the woods.

do they have a migratory bird sanctuary in your area?

that is an awesome way to spend a few hours.

volunteer at the local homeless shelter.

develop ideas for a home-based business.

invite your neighbors over for a meal.

go to church.

paint something.

fix something.

4. and just forget the $1,200.00 I spent for it? I saved my hard earned
pennies for a long time to buy this for my family.

7. think of the rich, non-cash dividends family time can provide
that 1200 might (in a weird way) be the entry cost into a new world of tv-free existence.

5. I would go back to the manufacturer
and explain the situation. They might be able to help you.

And keep bugging everyone - the squeaky wheel and all that.

6. How did you pay for it?
If you used a credit card contact the CC company, explain the circumstances and provide any supporting documentation you might have in an effort to contest the charges. Even though some time has elapsed you may still be able to do this. Maybe not. Depends on the terms of your agreement.

Had something similar happen a few years back with a piece of fitness equipment. After somebody figured out they were not getting any money out of the deal they were more than happy to come and retrieve the over sized piece of junk. And I was not out any money.

Alternatively, contact the consumer division of your state attorney general office.

Good luck.

8. I paid cash for it....don't use credit cards. That's part of what makes
me so angry. I had to save for over two years to get it, now it's been in the shop for 2 months and there's no telling how long it will be before I get it back. I got it as a gift for my hubby and kids, because our old one was crappy. Bought a DVD player to go with it so we could all enjoy it together. I feel screwn.

9. I'd still contact
the consumer affairs division of the state attorney generals office. They may have some suggestions. They may have a history of problems with one of the parties involved.

I'd also contact the manufacturer, the retailer and the repair shop by certified mail. Give them an ultimatum. Ask for more than you want or expect. Suggest that you have lost all confidence in the manufacturer, the service provider, the retailer - and in their ability to repair this particular set and return it to you in working order. Suggest that you would be delighted to drop the matter if they would simply exchange the set for another comparable model. At this point that suggestion is not unreasonable IMHO. Worst thing that happens is you are left where you are. Best case you have laid the groundwork for a case claiming damages. Or somebody decides to give you a better TV to make you happy. If you don't get a response to your letters then start calling them. Repeatedly. Call until the matter is resolved. Keep track of everything. All correspondence. Every person you talk to and the details of the conversation. If you can't resolve it then take them to small claims court.

Hate to say it but customer service responds best to squeaky wheels. Persistent, polite but still demanding squeaky wheels.

10. It's possible that they have invoiced the manufacturer without doing the repair.

I'd inquire with the manufacturer and find out
if they have already collected for the, as
yet, unrepaired TV.

TV repair outfits are notorious scammers.
