1. I don't know how to vote
The image certainly is cute, although it's been years since I watched TV and saw one of their ads.

I do hear the ads on the radio, though, and those are as annoying as hell.

2. The First 40,000 Ads Were OK.

It's the latest ones that are starting to get on my nerves. I mean, what's with the Aussie accent?

5. what, no "other"???? :p
Ads are the reason I mostly stopped tv, now I watch a few hours a week but still I've seen every Geico ad I think.
He's totally cute and I want to hug and cuddle him and everything, but he's a cartoon. I think Geico owes a lot to geckos of the world for using them to make so much money all these years.

19. I asked them if I can get a discount on insurance if I own a gecko
They don't do that. I was so disappointed.

7. What’s in a Name?
What’s in a Name? from the Gecko's Blog

People often write to me asking “What’s your name?” Most people just refer to me as “the Gecko.” I have no objection to that. In fact, I kind of like it. It’s like “the President” – everyone knows who you’re talking about! I guess I am the most notable and recognizable gecko.

Some call me “the GEICO Gecko.” I like that name too. Sure, at first it bugged me that everyone phoned me, the Gecko, instead of GEICO. But, it’s worked out to be a great gig for me. It’s a sort of “lizards to riches” story. GEICO is a great company that saves people money on their car insurance and motorcycle insurance while delivering great service. Who wouldn’t want to be associated with GEICO, whether as their spokes-lizard or as a policyholder?

As for the phone calls, sure people still sometimes confuse GEICO with the Gecko but I think more people are catching on. Either that or they’re going to GEICO’s world-class website, geico.com, where they can get a free car insurance or motorcycle insurance rate quote, buy a policy online, service their policy, or check or pay a bill online.

Call me the Gecko, call me the GEICO Gecko – just don’t call me late for dinner!

23. Actually...

:D ...no... :D because I disagree with most of the politicians they support; however, I was raised in an extended family where hunting and firearms were an old tradition, as was military service. The young un's accompanying the elder uncles and grandfathers on hunting trips, and the receipt of the first 20 gauge shotgun, were considered cultural rites of passage in our family.

Responsibility and gun safety were always stressed; sobriety while handling firearms was a prerequisite. So were ethical hunting practices (I know there are some who will not consider any hunting as ethical).

I don't hunt anymore, although I have taught my girls gun safety. I admit to coming down on the side of gun ownership, but ANY violent crime committed with a gun should be punished HARSHLY.

I'm not accusing you of anything; you're post just happened to bring a short essay to mind... :D

And the setup on that rifle looks way-cool...

:hi:

edit...spelling (sigh)... :dunce:

15. Funny originally, now played out
I guess these ads still get a good response or else the focus groups would have weeded them out, but I can't get past the idea that this lizard is played out. I guess I'm in the minority though. The cavemen were good at first too, but I can't see myself watching a whole show about them.

For my money the best ads on TV now are the Sonic ones with the improv comedians. Those always make me laugh.
