Question: When you are selecting threads to view, do you....
Make an assumption from the Subject Line that "This is going to suck..." and then don't look.

Make an assumption from the Subject Line that "This is going to suck..." and look anyway.

Scan through the first page and hope something YOU want to talk about comes up...

Come up with your own post and hope for the best

Start digging through pages to see if you might have missed something
or
Go right on over to the GD and GDP and see who is over there and post there?

I am curious about this....

And don't call me Hitler.

1. I look at just about everything in the lounge
and a group that I post to. As far as other forums go, I tend to look at the Latest and Greatest pages and pick and choose from there. But I don't often post outside of the lounge and that group.

3. I look at the OP author's name
If it's MATCOM, I open the thread, but hide my eyes. Maybe read it through gaps between my fingers. Scary stuff.

6. I use the OP as my primary criteria...
Then the subject line, and if it looks extra sucky I don't open it.

9. My dear Gilligan...
I look first for my friends!

And then I generally click on their threads...

Unless I can tell from the subject line that it's not something I'd be interested in, or know anything about...

Nice to see you today!

12. I pretty much look at all of them...
no thought process involved.

I'm way too lazy to actually -think- about the potential quality of the contents of a thread.

I'm pretty much the same way in all of the forums.

13. What sort of question is that, Hitler?
but, in GD and GDP, I generally look for subjects I'm interested in and then click on it. I also look if something has a lot of recommends on it, too.

I rarely look for the names of posters, other than Will Pitt (who is often highly recommended) and H20 Man (ditto on the recommends)

15. I go by the topic. But I'm curious, too, about those who HATE a topic then post
The ones who IMMEDIATELY put the kabosh on a thread, do the Debbie Downer thing, rain on the parade, etc.

The ones who post (usually in the #1 posting slot):

* I wouldn't (watch that show) (read that paper) EVAH!!1

* WHY are you (watching, reading) that p.o.s.?!1

* Turn it off!!1

* I threw the t.v. in the toilet 15 years ago and have never been happier.

* It's all (corporatist, DLC, wingnut, freeper) crap!!1

I want to know: WHY do they click-in to a thread they don't like and big-foot it like the foot graphic in the Monty Python cartoon intro?!1 WHY can they NOT just skip along their merry way and let whoever OTHERS who MIGHT want to join in do so?!1

16. Yes...
I understand...

I posted something that was supposed to be sort of fun and funny over in the GD -- There was a woman who called me just about everything -- she did not get what I was saying at all.. But she made so many other people question her sanity that it all worked out in the end.

She must have told me 3 or 4 times to get out of the GD... As if that would make me stop... I am thinking of finding everything she posts and make copycat threads just to make her really wish I would go away....

Wheeeee!

18. I read just about everything except what that Gilligan person posts...
man, those are always a waste of time. :)

In all seriousness, if something catches my eye, I click. That's about all there is to it.
