Sad cat news.
My Aunt Crystal and Uncle Roger are devastated right now. They're cat people, like me. They have had 4 cats until recently (and as many as 6 at a time in the past) and they are wonderful with their lil' beasties.

They've all been getting kind of old, so it was no surprise when the oldest female cat passed away a few weeks ago. Her name was Minkie, because she had the softest must wonderful fur you ever felt.

Then yesterday they found the youngest cat had passed away quietly without warning, apparently in her sleep. That was Kelly.

Kelly's name was originally Kali, but when my aunt and uncle rescued her (from people who were going to abandon her) they said "Oh no, we are not bringing a cat name'd Kali into this house. That's just asking for karma trouble." So they renamed her Kelly. She was alternately charming and mean as hell, with a glare that could curl paint. Kali was probably a very good name for her. :P

Both of the lady cats doted on my uncle and followed him around. Now there are no lady cats in the house for the first time in 30 years.

2 cats in just a few weeks. They were still mourning Minkie, and now Kelly too. They only have 2 boy cats left, who are a bit confused about having so few other cats around. :(

This is just a brief tribute to the wonderful cats they have taken in and loved. Kelly, Minkie, Sri Beekananda (Beekie the mega tail), Ben Ben, Quilpie, and others I didn't get to know and love.
:patriot:
Good cats, all of them.

1. I'm sorry to hear that.

Have they called their vet? Hopefully it isn't something that will affect to two remaining cats.

3. Yes. They take the body to the vet in the morning.
She is on wrapped up in a quilt and in plastic in the refrigerator until tomorrow morning. :(

The cats have had checkups recently, and the vet wasn't worried when my aunt called early today.

My aunt is homebound because of fibromialgia (sp). She's killing herself cleaning up, and I know she's going to bleach that fridge something fierce tomorrow afternoon. I wish I could get out there to help somehow, and just to be with them while they mourne.
:(

28. If my Aunt Crystal was 10 years younger
or didn't have the fibro, she'd be a force to be reckoned with. She could take charge of almost anything and make it work. :)

2.  I'm sorry to hear that, two cats in a few weeks, heartbreaking
I still mourn my kittyboy's death from over 2 years ago.

on the bright side I'm picking up an 8 week old kitten tonite to bring to my home and add to my brood of doggies and kitties.

My condolences to your aunt and uncle

4. Thank you.
They've decided, because of their age, that they aren't going to bring in any new cats. So as each cat passes away they'll eventually have no cats at all.

I hope the two remaining boys live a long, long time. They have a golden Maine Coone named Sparky, and a brown striped tabby named Brillo.

I hope your new kitten enjoys a long and happy life with your family. :)

I'm worried about them. Grief is always tough, but all of this, plus my aunt's health issues is bringing them down. I think I'm going to be talking to them daily for a while.

16. Sorry, that is very traumatic to lose two
Losing an animal companion is difficult enough, but to lose two in a very short timespan is sad indeed. It's a gut wrenching thing, and many people don't understand how much it can hurt.

My best to you, your uncle and your aunt.

17. It is very traumatic.
Each cat I've lost has devastated me for months, and I still think about them. My aunt often talks about each of the cats they've lost. She remembers and misses each of them.

I wish they were younger and felt they were able to take in another cat. I know they'd love to take in an adult rescue. And that would probably help them quite a bit.

24. Four weeks ago I had to put my dog down
and for the first three weeks I was determined not to get another dog, but the void the loss left was intolerable, and I ended up doing like many people and visiting the local shelter, so now I have adopted a new dog--new love, new challenges, such as coaching the new dog and my nine year old cat to get along in harmony.

Best of health to your cats!

40. Best of health to your new Puppy too!
I am thinking of strongly suggesting that they get another cat. But I am only thinking about it right now. I'm going to give them some time. And I need to think about their concern about dying before a new cat would.

Not with her health and their age. They're concerned about not outliving any new cats. :(

Your aunt and uncle must be so sad, I mean I am
The cats are such important little souls but we have to outlive all of them. I think those two were very lucky to live where they did and get real love, a lot of animals don't. It's so sad but I think they'll look back at Kelly and Minkie with nothing but good feelings. They should get another girl or two before too long!

44. I've often said that I want to come back in my next life
as one of my own cats, or one of theirs. Those cats were very well cared for, sometimes spoiled, and given lots of individual attention.

It's amazing how they'd specialize the care for each cat when any of them had health problems.

Those cats had good lives. I wish all cats could be so well cared for.
