Good vibes desperately needed.

My aunt is going to the emergency room, and I'm to far away to be with her.

She has been home-bound for 3 years now because of severe pain and health issues. It's one of those health issues that is now putting her in the hospital for the 2nd time. She's openly hoping it will kill her because she's sick of dealing with all the constant unending pain and the complications of so many health issues.

She told me not to bother coming out to New Jersey to be with her, because she doesn't want anyone to be there except my uncle. I can understand that. When I'm in horrible shape I don't want anyone there either.

It's still driving me nuts sitting here at work worrying about her.

Please share some good vibes.

It's okay to feel conflicted. She is in pain and would like to end her suffering, but those she leaves behind also suffer. It is a no win situation. We can only hope for her peace of mind.

how well you handle no-win situations. I have to say, character doesn't seem to be worth a whole lot when you find yourself in that no-win situation. Finding a good solution would be worth so much more. :(

It appears that the optimal outcome over here is that they're going to try her on more/stronger meds and she's being scheduled for a lot more tests. :(

She's lost 60 pounds in the past 8 months, and it's guaranteed she's now going to lose more. I'm sick just thinking about it. But she's home now, heavily medicated. We'll see how this turns out.

It's such a difficult position to be in. I hope that things happen the way they are supposed to happen.

I know that it is difficult to know that a loved one is suffering. Prayers to you, your aunt, and other family.

I often post here about my chronic pain, but she really is suffering. I really wonder how she manages. :(

I have spoken to my aunt on the phone. She's scared and angry. She keeps saying she's had enough. I guess all I can do at this point is understand and give her as much moral support as I can. :(

She can definitely use the good vibes right now.

I hope everything works out in the way she wants, although that may be difficult for you and your family. :hug:

(especially her). If they could find ways of relieving her pain and discomfort, make her life livable even if her mobility is still nil, we could be happy with that. She'd be happy with that.

But if they can't relieve the symptoms, all they're doing is sending her home where they don't have to deal with her. :(
