I officially have NO reason to like our local t.v. weather guy.

Not only has he provided us with a month of consistently crappy weather (yes it IS his fault,) but apparently he referred to Gore as a "left-wing nut." Between that and his Scandinavian robot head, I have decided I will henceforth refer to him as "the forecASSt Hole."

2. A good or bad weather person can make or break a news show for me.

My first choice in morning news is made primarily on the basis of me liking the weather guy. :P

It makes sense, though, really... cause I don't 'do' tv-news (excepting Olbermann), so my ONLY reason for watching morning news is to get the forecast.

I loves me some Evan Andrews. :7

5. I hear ya. We had a great, goofy, dorky guy for a long time.

Then he left temporarily due to issues with a stalker.
Now he's back, but only in a limited capacity.

That's bullshit. They should just do the weather and keep their mouths shut about their personal beliefs or prejudices or whatever. They're paid to talk about the WEATHER, not anything else.

He's just brilliant. He is SUCH a weather geek. Isobars, isobars, isobars. I learn so much when they just let him ramble on with that little-boy grin on his face when something especially nasty is coming.

Incidentally, he's the brother of Jeff Skilling of Enron infamy, and is SO much the better man. (I wonder about the family dynamic there - the nerdy guy in a profession that gets made fun of a lot versus the younger brother who got filthy rich...until it all fell apart in the worst way possible.) I only saw Tom talk about it in public once, and he was crying--so sad and ashamed about the whole thing. I wanted to give him a hug.

He may be sad, but he's never been ashamed. It's left me really disappointed in him. But his job is to predict the weather, and he's good at that.

I definitely did see him break down that one time. I still feel bad for him. Family, y'know, what can you do?

But I still think it's definitely a lesson that to pursue what you really love to do, even if it's nerdy, is a better option than always going for the money.
