So my kid defaced a magazine picture of Bush at school and the teacher saw it.
My son drew devil horns, a tail, a mustache, and a unibrow on Dear Leader. There was a guy standing next to Bush in the photo, and upon his shirt my son drew "I'm With Stupid" with an arrow pointing towards Bush.

The teacher's reaction? She asked if she could take it home to show her very liberal fiance because she thought it was so funny. (She was intentionally low-key about it to my son so as not to draw attention to her action; not that she's likely to offend many or any of the kids in that class who overwhelmingly come from Democratic households). She reported back that her fiance loved his handiwork.

I love living in Portland. :toast:

1. This would really piss off O'Reilly!
He would go on an anti-Portland "secular progressive" rant if he heard this story. Sounds like your son has a pretty cool teacher!

I think my son is her favorite kid in the class, too. :)

He'll call for a terrorist strike on the area
and, they'll find themselves labeled the new epi-center of evil in the world, displacing Boston, which displaced New York City, which displaced Los Angeles, which displaced Las Vegas, which displaced Hollwyood, which displaced San Francisco. (did I leave any other epicenters out?)

He called it "Little Beirut" because of the protesters who would "greet" him here.

3. You should be very proud of both of your son and yourself
You have obviously raised him well.

And well done to the teacher for having such an open mind and a sense of humor

5. Thank you
A lot of people get upset about political "brainwashing" of children, but, hey, we calls 'em like we sees him. I don't want my kids to be victims of the same kind of the-USA-can-do-no-harm propaganda and B.S. that I was subjected to as a child. We tell our kids that our country was founded on good principles such as freedom of speech, and that the Constitution is an admirable document, but that it's more patriotic to have your eyes open, recognize corruption, and work to better the things that are wrong in your country. (Well, we say that in so many word because our younger child is only seven.)

22. oh exactly!
I feel really betrayed by the pack of lies I was taught about the US.

About your son, this is a very cool story and I was afraid you were going to say that he got sent to the principal's office or something

9. I loves me some Santa Cruz!
I grew up in the East Bay and we used to love to go to Santa Cruz periodically. I just took my kids there for the first time this summer. Of course they loved it as well. :loveya:

20. I did something similar in 2000
and a couple of my 8th grade students saw me and joined in. This was in a school in a very progressive neighborhood. In the student mock election that year, Bush finished third behind Nader.
