**A Poem for Today, Sunday, October 28, 2007**
Leaving

Leaving isn’t just physical

It’s also mental, emotional

you can leave someone

emotionally

long before your feet go

Separations are so hard

First a little strand here

Then a little one there

They seem so small

They hardly matter

But they do

Suddenly you are faced

with this huge cable

and it’s dragging

you out the door

even if you have

no place to go.

This just showed up in me this morning, before breakfast...

I think it's been percolating for a while in my head...

I'm sorry that it made you a little sad, sweetie...

5. Cool poem!
Applicable to every ones' life in one
way or another. Even down to leaving
home for the first day ever of school.
Every human has felt this seperation
and the way it is not complete all at once.
Bits and pieces stretch and remain connected after
the initial break, seemingly pulling you
back at times.

I like the strand/cable metaphor...

Is this for class?

10. My dear Retro!
Oh, thanks, sweetie!

Especially coming from you, a published poet!

Nope, not for class...

Just something that's been percolating around in my head for awhile...

And today it said...Let me out!

14. Yeah, I get those too...
I've been doing "morning pages" every day, writing a brain dump into a journal, at least 3 pages every morning.

Seems to open up my brain to writing...

15. Yup....use it or loose it...
You have more discipline than I do...

But I know when I feel like writing, I sit down and do it!

And that does pay off, big time...

My brain enjoys the exercise...

Thank you, sweetie!

Yes, today I did some pruning...

And I liked the result a lot...

Less is more sometimes, isn't it?

21. Sure thing. I admire writers who can use figurative language so effortlessly...
I'm far too literal for my own liking.

Aw, I kind of thought you were, sweetie...

But honestly, I'm not...

This is just something I've had rumbling around in my head for some time...

And today, it said Let me out!

So I did...

Glad you like it!
