All Texans are weather wussies.
The temperature finally drops to a tolerable level- say, the mid 70s, and alla sudden ya sees all these Rhinestone Cowboys with coats, hats, and gloves on, shaking in their artificial snakeskin boots, whining about the near-blizzard conditions that have descended upon them.

Me, I'm lovin' it- born and raised in northern Indiana, this weather is heaven. I'm walking around in my T shirt, comfortable for the first time in months, and laughing my ass off at all the "tough" good ol' boys.

Wussies, one and all.

And so's yer muddah.

They bitch when it rains, they moan when it's dry; it's too hot, it's too cold. They're never satisfied.

I swear, the Texas bashing is just ridiculous around here. These characterizations are so broad brushed and stem from some sort of deep seeded hatred. Unbelievable.

7. Are you kidding?
It has been a hot early fall, and the weather has finally cooled and everyone is loving it. Last night at the football game - perfect evening, full moon, light jackets. Everyone finally glad that we're having football weather. I haven't seen one person wearing gloves, and all the jackets I've seen have been light.

No, what's really funny is all the jackasses moving here complaining about the heat. Ninety degrees, and it's like death is around the corner. No one complains more than some who have moved from northern states.

no snow-just a 2-3 inch coating of ice on the road. And try getting chains down here, or even a heavy weight good quality coat. I am lucky if I can find thermals in time.:grr: I think we have a reason to piss and moan.

In all fairness-it is almost impossible to walk on ice. Thank goodness I discovered these yak trac, slip-ons, but those I found in NM.

12. Well I'm not in the category you described "Rhinestone Cowboys"
but I've lived here all my life and I tend to get cold easily. I usually don't bitch or moan about the weather, I just dress accordingly. I don't have a problem with you dressing the way you want, so you shouldn't make fun of the way other people dress. Don't ya think?

I went out shopping last night and took my coat just in case I got cold. there were people wearing shorts and sandals and some people dressed in warmer clothes. And yes it does seem odd that people have different areas they feel comfortable with when dressing for warmer or older weather. Some people are hot natured, while some people are cold natured. I tend to be in the later category. Sorry if that offends you.

One of the main reasons I don't like to drive in icy weather conditions, hard to control the car, and much harder to control someone else's. I've been involved in car accidents due to crazy drivers.

You could move back to Indiana where you would feel more at home.:hi:

I'm a 5th generation Texan, so I hear what yer sayin'. It boggles the mind how those transplants think they are better than us.

Just look what a few Bushes have done to our state. Spread their shit all over our beloved state, and made things really bad for our reputation.

Gotta run, I need to check on my oil wells as well. That black gold is gettin' me real rich. See ya at Kneemans, where we can purchase us some of them Rhinestones.

You're simply to "ignant" to admit it.

Of COURSE I don't think that. Over my lifetime I've lived in six states and two countries and have gotten along okay everywhere. ...Well, there WAS that little stretch in Ohio, but I told the doctor I'd try to not think about that time if I could help it...

58. 'Em's fighin' words, cuz I ain't ignant.... I'm just slooooow
Of course I don't mind the "transplants as long as they can adapt to our environment. After all Texas deprives its name from táysha?, a word in the Caddoan language of the Hasinai, which means "friends" or "allies".

So, I welcome all, however the unfriendliness comes from mostly the "Transplants." I'm kiddin' btw.

I used to get in trouble for being to friendly as a kid. I never understood why. It's just my nature to try and be friendly. I guess I always tried to live up to our state's name.

Ya know I live about 30 to 40 miles west of you. Fort Worth "Where the WEST" begins.:hi:

as a resident of a neighboring state, and former resident of another neighboring state, I can say that Texans are anything but weather wusses, especially the ones who work out in the heat.

I've worked out in 110 degree heat in Oklahoma all summer long and it is not for the faint of heart.

I've lived in Utah where we had plenty of cold, cold weather too.

I'd say that this thread is lockable if not just mean.

seen work in their air conditioned offices, air conditions construction vehicle cabs, take their air conditioned car two blocks from their air conditioned house to their air conditioned supermarket.

I'll grant that many do work in extreme conditions, but many more are weather wussies. Me, I don't even have a window in my car, so I certainly don't use air conditioning :)
