Prep football team tallies 72-point quarter
Kansas team's outburst believed to be national record

SMITH CENTER, Kan. - Smith Center scored 72 points in the first quarter of a high school football game Tuesday night on the way to an 86-0 win over Plainville, according to a report in the Salina, Kan., Journal.

Smith Center forced six turnovers in the first quarter as it racked up what is believed to be a record for points in a quarter by a high school team, the paper reported. The previous record was 66 by Prescott, Ariz., in 1925.

The defending state champion has outscored its opponents 640-0 :wow: so far this season, including a 69-0 win over Plainville earlier this year.

2. Hmm. That means they only scored 14 points the rest of the game.
Sounds like they put their reserves in after the first quarter, unlike the team from New England, who was still throwing it deep down the field with their first stringers until the mid fourth quarter.

3. What does that about the Skins? We suck so bad we can only compete against 2nd and 3rd stringers?
And if Skin's fans really want to be mad at someone I suggest Eric Mangini, who unleashed this monster. ;)

6. BTW, I am NOT a skins fan. My team has had a BITTER rivalry
with the deadskins for 47 years.

If that's what Belichek wants to do that's up to him and their organization. Unfortunately it WILL come back to bite him in the ass!

8. It may indeed come back to bite them in the ass..
But I don't think they care. They are on a mission like no team I've ever seen before. They are running up the score on purpose, and have been all year. The cheating stuff put a real chip on their shoulder, and there's no team with a tighter focus in the NFL right now (though I don't think they'll go unbeaten).

But in the end it's up to the teams to stop them, and if they can't they have no one to blame but themselves. All I know is that if I was on a team that got spanked that hard I'd be embarassed as hell to complain about not being able to stop their best players and suggesting that we were so bad they had to put in 2nd and 3rd stringers for us to compete, and to most of the Skin's players credit they took full responsibility, as they should.

"Deadskins" :rofl:

Cowboys fan? :)

10. I don't understand why they don't care. Injuries can happen any time.
All it will take is one Joe Theismann incident with a lineman falling on Brady's leg late in a game, and the pats fans will be calling for Belichek's head.

Yeah, the Deadskins did suck. Also, the eaglets aren't any better.

Yep, I remember Dandy Don Meredith qb'ing the boys in the late 60's before Roger Staubach.

7. It definately is. If I were a pat's fan, I would be concerned about
having Brady, Moss, etc, still in late in the fourth quarter. It makes the inevitable even more likely. Not that it would be intentional but injuries happen. Imagine if Brady is knocked out for the season ala Joe Theismann.

5. Sounds like perfect offense and perfect defense
either that or every other team is completely inept.
