Comet: must see! (N hemisphere)
In the constellation of Perseus there is one more star than usual. The new one is actually a comet, "17P/Holmes." It and two stars form an icoscelese triangle with the short side on the bottom and the comet marking the lower left corner. It appears fuzzy. This evening, point a pair of binoculars in that general direction. It will appear as an obvious, luminous ball.

I knew about it and took a quick look with binoculars last night. I did not have time to pull out a telescope and was not expecting much. Holy shit! It was huge! It would fill the field of view in a telescope.
