I know they didn't, but Cheap Trick perfected it.

I had a Cheap Trick appreciation thread here a while back:

33. That is a great one...
I have always wanted to hear my best friend, who is a professional musician, sing it. Last year he was working as the guitarist for Son Volt. While I was hanging around a soundcheck, they launched into "Baby Blue" and I said to myself,"Great, I'll finally get to hear Brad sing the song that is perfect for him!"
But alas Jay Farrar sang it instead.

And oddly enough, that was when I lived in DC twenty years ago (they played at the 9:30 with the Reducers). They played at the recent Outlets reunion, and I'm ticked off that I missed that show!

They played in Charlotte (my de facto 'hometown') at the Pterodactyl Club several times, and my pals and i drove to Columbia SC for a couple of gigs at Rockafella's, too.

42. I always loved going there...
Yeah, it was a bit of a hole in the wall: cramped, loud, and nowhere to park.
But it was cozy, and the acoustics were surprisingly good.

I think the last time i was there was to see Electric Hellfire Club about 10 yrs ago.
