Goddess help me, I'm jealous of another woman.
I don't want to be this type of female. When a woman accomplishes something, I prefer to be the type of person to cheer her on instead of attempting to tear her down, but this situation is making it very hard for me.

Who am I jealous of and why you ask? Katie Holmes! Weird, right? Take a look at this: http://thesuperficial.com/2007/11/katie_holmes_runs_nyc_marathon.php

Not only does she run her first marathon after only training for 3 months, but she looks great doing it. Where is the sweat? Why can she look like she's going out for a short jog when it's really a marathon and she's averaging around 12mph? How in the world is she doing it without a sports bra? WTF? I just don't get it.

So yes, no matter how crazy her husband is, I'm still jealous of Katie Holmes. Running a marathon is on my list of things to do before I turn 35 and I hate knowing it's going to take me a lot longer than 3 months to train for it AND I'm not going to look like that. My face will be red and strained and the people behind me will probably slip on the puddles of sweat pouring off of me. Yes, I know it doesn't matter, but I'm going to stick to my childish and ridiculous belief that this just isn't fair. x(

1. Never, ever compare your run to any one else's
Your run is your own, and you have every right to be proud of it for what YOU have accomplished.

There is no point in comparing your achievement to anyone else.

2. the reasonable part of my brain knows this
but my ridiculous side had to rant a little :D

I also try to remind myself that she probably has staff to help with her daughter and it's probaby a sure thing that she had a personal trainer with her 24/7 for the past 3 months. I keep telling myself this but I'm still jealous. grrr

3. I will probably never run a marathon
the reality is that even though I have lost a lot of weight, in order to run 26 miles, I'd have to lose at least another 50 lbs. That's not impossible, just highly improbable.

I'd be happy to run a half marathon.

6. I thnk it was 12 min miles, not 12 miles an hour
Edited on Tue Nov-06-07 11:29 AM by AngryAmish
That would be near world record pace.

on edit: A fast walk is 15 minute miles. This is not hard to do as long as you eat during the race. Oprah did it in 4.5 or 4.33 hrs. That is really impressive.

7. 12 minute miles is power-walking
which is why she looks like she walked the entire thing.

12. not for my short legs
It's a slow jog for me which isn't all that impressive, but doing it for 5 hours straight would still a pretty cool achievement. She's probably much taller than I am though so I'll assume she walked most of the way :D

8. Jealous of HER? I honestly think Tom's standards are slipping.
Married to Mimi Rogers and Nicole Kidman, dated Penelope Cruz; all of them WAY hotter than she'll ever be.

13. true, but they didn't finish a marathon without sweating
I'm starting to think she botoxed all of her sweat glands. As far as beauty goes, I think Penelope Cruz wins in this contest.

14. She has all the time in the world
to practice.

You could train in three months too if that was your "job."
