I Just Found Out An Old Friend Died : Tom Phillips, Native American Artist

I wish the rest of the world could have known this wonderful man. I knew him in the 70's. He was a kind, respectful, and extremely talented native American artist. And he used to use his art to raise money to aid the native Americans who practiced the Native American Indian religion.

I used to go with him to hear Native American speakers. It was really kind of a magical time. So many people were energized to make the world a better place.

I stayed here in Kansas City and Tom moved on to San Francisco. I completely lost contact with him.

I finally found him again - on the Internet. And I was too late. He lived from 1927 to 2005. He had a good long life. And he continued to paint scenes from Indian history.

I hate it when I lose track of people that were once really good friends. Happens way too often. Makes me feel like a really wasted a wonderful opportunity. And it makes me sad that such a good person is gone now. He did so much good. A person not touched by greed. A truly uncommon man.
