ABS cement on PVC?
posted in home improvement but I need to know fast - anybody?

Argh. Found the fittings I need so I don't have to drive 20 miles to town for a 79 cent coupling, but all I can find is ABS glue.

Can I use it for a pretty low pressure situation on pvc? Any other ideas?

1. I don't know why not
at least for a temporary fix. You can set it right later.

Won't hold.

Unless you are willing to break it apart in a few days and recement it. Plumbing cement is very material-specific. For general use there is also transition cement, that works on both, which might be handy to have around.

4. Hey AC
I don't have any use for this ABS stuff - somebody must have bought it by accident. Finally learned to by small cans of pvc glue, because it always ends up going bad but now I need to learn to buy two cans at a time - one for the current repair and one for storing.
