1. Love em, literally!
Some of my best friends are from San Diego and Los Angeles, and that includes a long-distance relationship which was very strong for a number of years.

2. Not an east or west coaster
I like both

I don't like the notion that I live in a "flyover state"

or the stereotypes of the state i live in largely due to Lil Abner I imagine.

Wait, I gotta put my shoes on so i can run to the outhouse

got my extension cord powering my house from the rich republican neighbors house and they don't know it :P

oh, and i'm dumber than wet dirt i hear too

but as for east and west coasters, mostly okay impressions.

been to both coasts.

been all over the country

lots to see in between oceans

i know this is a flame intended post for fun

just some serious observations well, sort of

5. Every state is made fun of for one reason or another...
In NH, we don't really say "Ayuh" or wear suspenders and ear-flap hats.

6. true enough to an extent
i've been asked numerous times in other states

if we have indoor plumbing

electricity

cowboys and indians (in Oklahoma where I lived previously)

but you are right

some states have an air of superiority

but we're all really the same...

having recently been told that people from Arkansas are perhaps dumb as wet dirt, that one was easy to recall.

:hi:

15. ...since when?

Every time I get an on ground report from New Hampshire, the phrase "ayuh" is uttered at least once.
I'll have to ask "what are you wearing?" next time.

I've never heard anyone say "ayuh" in my 55 years.

3. I've lived on both coasts
People are basically the same either place.
Some cultural differences though,
East coasters are more direct. West coasters are more indirect and thus harder to figure out where they are coming from.
East coasters take more pride in formal education and it shows in conversations, including topics covered and grammar used. (Sorry if this offends anyone but that is my experience. I've lived in both NY and Seattle.)

11. You hit the nail on the head with the first cultural difference.
I'm far too direct to live on the West Coast, yet here I am. I can't say that I've noticed the second difference.

7. East coasters
are smarter because, by the time west coasters are waking up, we've already been up for a few hours. We already know everything about what west coasters are just hearing about. I'm not trying to say that west coasters are slow----just sleepy.

12. they look like Charles Manson, and they speak mostly in tongues...
As to whether they are friendly or hostile, they are hostile. But you can win them over if you rub their bellies (they like that).
