16% of Virginians have vanity plates

A nationwide survey of vanity plates finds Virginia has the highest percentage of drivers who have them, 16%.

Vanity drives some motorists to make mobile statements. But for many folks, it's just a good deal. Virginia charges $10 for personalized plates, which is much cheaper than many other states.

Even though Virginia's personalized plates are fairly cheap, one Sociology professor tells the Associated Press the popularity of personalizing is indicative of a generation that's vain.

Except the Midlo part is really our last name and not Midlo. So it reads MidVan2.

16. I refuse to give 'em anymore of my money than I have to.
I'd love to have vanity plates on my JP....However.com they already get plenty of cash out of my pocket.
