The BlueIris Semi-Nightly Poetry Break, 11/14/07
"Rising out of Love"

He looks up at the moon, pieces of which
are now touring Arkansas.
He picks out a dozen stars
that don't resemble fresh wept tears.
He looks up "lips" in an unabridged dictionary.

He imagines her in other contexts:
waltzing with hubby, biting her nails
during "As the World Turns,"
feeding fries to three kids at McDonald's.
He imagines her as she is—unconcerned.

He tries to dwell on her bad points,
the turkey skin behind her knees,
the lingering odor of Lavoris and Noxema,
the slightly off-blue, no, azure eyes
of some lousy tipper who,
although he always double-bags her,
never even remembers her name.

5. I've tried to post this particular pair about five times now.
Can't ever quite make myself go through with it. There are some topics I think are actually too dark for this environment.

That's a nice poem about infatuation, but definitely not love. I think I like everything about it except the title. :shrug:

6. Thanks! I'll admit to a small typo, though. It was supposed to go like this:
