He must be a Republican, because he has to cheat for his team to win!

Discuss.

1. Right now, he's not doing anything.
Tressel has kept him from practicing, in case he did do something that violates the NCAA rules. If (When) the NCAA clears him, he'll be back. If the NCAA decides he has violated his amateur standing, he won't be. OSU's in the clear either way.

When you say "cheat to win," what exactly are you referring to? I don't think any of the things he's being investigated for has anything in the least to do with football or OSU.

It's not like an OSU booster gave him $650,000 to attend the university, like a certain school a bit to the north of OSU had happen a during the 90's.

2. And as to his being a Republican, you should know that
his mother worked for the Hagen campaign here in Ohio. You know, the Democratic candidate for governor.

3. Is there any chance that the NCAA could take away OSU's
national championship from last year?

4. No.
If in fact Clarett did anything that would make him ineligible (unlikely), OSU didn't know about it and couldn't have known about it. If there's no reasonable way for them to know, it's not their fault. Boosters weren't involved. And all that has been cleared up anyway. His buddy, Lebron James gave him some stuff. It's not a violation. His childhood friends are allowed to give him stuff, as long as it wasn't an incentive to go to OSU. It wasn't. James is in no way connected to the university. The NCAA has already pretty much ruled on that.

What Clarett is being investigated for has to do with filing a false police report, a misdemeanor that will never be prosecuted because it didn't involve any insurance fraud. It's not like he raped someone.

The NCAA doesn't issue football championships anyway. There's no tournament.

5. What about the cheating?
Even as a Buckeye fan, I'm still confused about the cheating allegations. It definitely sounds like he was given preferential treatment. It was all over the news for a week or so and I never heard anything more about it.

6. He got no more help than other students get from time to time.
That particular professor gives oral exams from time to time to special needs students and to students who otherwise don't do well on written exams. Nothing untoward about it. The NCAA isn't interested in this, either.

As for the "athletes get papers written for them" accusation, I don't think it has any legs. These accusations are made all the time across the country.

I'm more worried that Clarett will have legal problems and won't be able to play next year. If that happens, though, it isn't that big a deal IMO.

7. An OSU booster gave $1,000,000 to Clarett!
I don't know his/her real name, but (s)he goes by the pseudonym "Ohio Dem."

In case you're wondering, by the way, I posted this to start a conversation.

8. LOL. I wish I had that kinda cash. Tressel doesn't need my
help getting the recruits, though. OSU sells itself.

So, how do you think the Big Ten will shake out this year? Any undefeated teams? Will it be like it's supposed to be and have OSU and UM playing for the Rose Bowl (or maybe even the Sugar Bowl)?

9. As a Penn State alum can't deny I'd rather see him not play
Last year the Nittany Lions lost by a interception returned for A TD in Columbus but Clarett played very little because of an injury. If he's in there this year we don't have a chance.

BTW, I was the biggest Buckeye fan last Jan. when they played those Miami Canes for the NC.

10. Clarett's good.

But if he's not there, Mo Hall and Ross can run, too. And the O-Line will be better this year.

What's the outlook for the Nittany Lions this year in your opinion?

Edited for typo.
