There might be some helpful discussions here:
http://www.geocities.com/Paris/Salon/2385/varus.htmlOr on the Roman Army Talk forums, about specific details of the battle. Is there anything in particular that you've got questions about?
I've been reading the new edition of Bishop and Coulston's Roman Military Equipment (they don't try to reconstruct the battle, but they do have some interesting info on the types of gear that were recovered at the site). That Smithsonian article that's referenced on the Wikipedia page sounds pretty good ... that might be a good bet for more info. (I always feel better about checking original sources ...)
There is a new book out called "Fields of Conflict" that deals with reconstructing historical battles from archeological evidence, and supposedly it includes the Varus disaster -- though I haven't seen it yet. Might be good if you need concrete details?
