Rescue de la flvegan took in two 4 week old pups. Brothers, but you'd not have guessed it.

Abandoned to die, Solly and Bumble came to my home.

Solly, half the size of his brother:





Solly has since passed. Rest easy, little man. But that's rescue. Funny how shit rips your heart out.

This is Bumble, Solly's brother:





We're still hoping we can save this one.

You know I once had a four-day-old beagle pup, stolen from the lab at Yale Hospital? I was able to give him four more days, bringing him to work, bottle-feeding, etc, but that was all.

I named him Rescue.

That's an awesome thing you're doing. The little guy was probably underdeveloped inside as well, especially respiratory tract. Couldn't be helped.

Fina a sympathetic vet ; he might need some attention.

We took them in because the "owner" finally started to worry about them and took them to a vet. A vet that suggested the owner turn them over, knowing we'd take them in.

The owner could have done something beforehand, but chose not to (or didn't know any better). To me, it's pretty obvious that Solly wasn't doing well, yet the owner chose to not seek a remedy.

Poor little guys. :grouphug:

That was a tremendous gift to have given him. Well done.

She wandered into our lives right after my mother died, looking as if she'd been without food for quite a while. We fed her and gave her a warm bed and some love that she was obviously in need of. She seemed happy and stronger, but on the second or third day she began to waste, succumbing over the next two days to what was likely Parvo. It was heartbreaking and horrible, but I felt that we gave her what she needed most: someone to comfort her while she died. (Sometimes I wondered if my mother had sent us Jigsy because she knew we (I) needed someone to comfort at the end since I had been unable to do so for her.)

You did a wonderful thing for Solly. You cared for her at the end. I'm very sorry for your loss, and I'm sending good vibes for Bumble. :hug:

I was heartbroken when one of the second litter of my kitties died on day 2....I know it happens but it still bothers me.. the 5 from litter one and the remaining 4 of litter two were robust little rascals, but that little one just didn;t have the strength to live :cry:

about Solly. Keep in mind that during his short life, he was loved and cared for.

It's so lucky they ended up with someone who cares about them. I will never understand how people can just throw cats and dogs away.

I know how hard it is coping with the loss of a loved one. I still miss my kitty, Chess, after she passed away a couple of months ago after an illness. It's so hard coming home to an empty place.

We rescued a litter of kittens that had been dumped by the side of the road about 12 years ago. All died but one. We named him "Darwin" and he is still ruling our house to this day.

Rescue is hard, but rewarding work. Take care.
